6. Affiliate Marketing

If there are products or services related to your field of expertise that you genuinely believe in, consider promoting them through affiliate marketing. By recommending quality products, you can earn a commission on every sale made through your referral link. It is such a huge industry. Every business can develop this revenue stream as a way to bring in additional income for their business. It can be tedious to construct the funnels to make this a lucrative effort but once everything is up and running, this passive stream can add up fast.

I have personally set up a long list of affiliate funnels for my own business. I've chosen to promote online courses I love, platforms I use to run my business, and other products I strongly believe in. I believe the trick to being successful at affiliate marketing is to pick products you believe in and trust. In the end, you'll be promoting these affiliate products to your audience and whatever you chose to promote will reflect on you. Choose wisely.

Some stats on this topic:

  • Affiliate marketing will hit $6.8 billion by 2020, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10%.

7. Sponsored Content and Brand Partnerships

Brands are constantly on the lookout for credible voices to amplify their messages. If you have a sizable audience or a targeted niche following, companies may be willing to sponsor content on your platform or collaborate on co-branded initiatives. Audiences have grown tired of being sold to. Traditional advertising has lost its impact as audiences become wiser, more educated to the marketing manipulations used on them and they yearn for authenticity and connection. What do you do every time you're looking to buy something new? You look for online customer reviews. Real people who can tell you what you believe to be the truth about the product you're looking to buy. Advertisers have grown aware of this fact and are now paying ordinary people to create those "authentic" reviews in order to lure you into a conversion funnel. So, if you have an active and engaged audience, you may just be what they're looking for. You don't have to have a million followers either. A few thousand, very engaged people, who basically buy everything you suggest, can become a gold mine for you and your advertiser. They'd consider you to be a micro-influencer. And that can be a very lucrative way to develop an additional income stream.

Some stats on this topic:

  • Native advertising, which includes sponsored content, will drive 74% of all ad revenue by 2021.

  • 92% of consumers trust brand content more than traditional advertising.

  • The influencer marketing industry is set to grow to approximately $13.8 billion in 2021.

Approach: Leverage your expertise to collaborate with relevant brands, offering sponsored content.

Tools & Resources:

  • Platforms: AspireIQ, Upfluence.

Tips & Strategies:

  • Ensure brand alignment for authenticity.

  • Offer packages (e.g., blog post + social media promotion like "shout-outs").

  • Use analytics to showcase audience engagement.

ChatGPT Master Prompt:

"Delve into the intricacies of securing and executing successful sponsored content and brand partnerships, discussing outreach, contract negotiation, content guidelines, and metrics of success."

8. Merchandise and Physical Products

If you have a recognizable brand or catchy slogans, consider creating merchandise. Whether it's apparel, stationery, or any other tangible product, this can be a fun and creative way to monetize.

In 2020, I opened a POD (Print On Demand) boutique called "Rebelicious" and it was one of the most creative and enjoyable period of my life. I had a childhood dream of designing my own clothes. As a little girl, I would always create clothes for my Barbie's and pretend they were walking down some New York runway. So, when 2020 came around and most of my agency clients were closing their doors, I decided to take a year off and explore this dream of mine.

I soon realized the amount of work involved and that it wouldn't be the passive income stream I was looking for. So, I sold the boutique and all its designs. It still remains an incredible journey I will always cherish. There is something incredibly satisfying about creating something out of nothing.

  • 60% of people keep promotional products for up to two years.

  • 85% of people have done business with an advertiser after receiving a promotional item.

Approach: Use your brand or content themes to design merchandise. Start with pre-orders to minimize inventory risks.

  • Design: Canva, Adobe Illustrator.

Tips & Strategies:

  • Engage followers in the design process (e.g., polls).

  • Collaborate with other influencers for limited edition merchandise.

  • Offer bundle deals.

  • Create designs that resonate with your audience.

  • Having a niche in this type of business model is crucial, Niche works better than broad.

ChatGPT Master Prompt:

"Detail a strategy for designing, launching, and selling branded merchandise and physical products, highlighting design tools, print-on-demand services, marketing, and inventory management."

  • Digital syndication market is expected to reach $1.08 billion by 2025, with a CAGR of 7%.

  • Intellectual property licensing revenues worldwide are estimated to be worth more than $250 billion annually.

Approach: Offer specialized workshops or seek speaking opportunities at industry events.
